FACEtite

Minimally invasive facial contouring and tightening

What is FACEtite?

FACEtite is a minimally invasive surgical device that will simultaneously reduce fat and tighten skin, through Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction. The device delivers precision heating in the subcutaneous tissues, which will coagulate the fatty layers and stimulate collagen and elastic production in the skin, producing effective and instant skin tightening and contouring, without damaging the surrounding tissue.

This form of liposuction is designed to be more minimally invasive and thus result in less downtime for the patient.FACEtite is usually carried out under local anaesthesia. This means that a tumescent solution of local anaesthetic and adrenaline is generously infiltrated into the treatment area. This will help to reduce discomfort and bleeding.

How does FACEtite work?

The FACEtite device consists of a Radiofrequency cannula which is inserted into the treatment area and an external electrode that scans the surface of the skin. The internal cannula works by heating up and coagulating the fatty layers in the treatment area and instantly contracting collagen and tightening the skin. The external probe constantly monitors the skin temperature to avoid overheating or burning injuries to the skin. The liquefied fat is then removed through a traditional liposuction – akin to ‘hoovering up’ – at the end of the procedure.

Where can FACEtite be used?

FACEtite can be used for body contouring, skin contracting and fat reduction in the typical areas with excess skin and fat in the face including the double chin, jowls and neck. FACEtite can also be used to create cheek contour and brow lifting.

How is FACEtite performed?

The time taken for the FACEtite procedure will depend upon the size of the area and indication being treated, but will generally take between 30 minutes and 90 minutes. Only one radiofrequency assisted liposuction procedure is usually needed, although some people (approximately 2% according to the manufacturers of the device) may require a second procedure to get the best result.

How long do FACEtite results last?

Results from a FACEtite radiofrequency assisted liposuction procedure should be considered permanent. However this will only be the case if you continue to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle following treatment. FACEtite does not prevent future weight gain. Furthermore, the ageing process does not stop and you will still expect to see the normal ageing changes with time.

What to expect after FACEtite surgery

Potential side effects from a FACEtite procedure include: swelling and uneven skin for approximately two to three weeks following treatment, some minor bruising and swelling and some minor redness and sensitivity in the area which can generally be controlled using over the counter pain medication and will typically disappear within a day or two.

You may experience soreness and tenderness immediately post-procedure, but will usually be able to leave the clinic within a few hours following treatment, provided that you have tolerated the anaesthetic well. You will normally still need assistance in getting home from a friend or family member as driving will not be possible and walking may be uncomfortable.

Are there any contraindications to FACEtite?

As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment. However, some people will not be suitable for treatment, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with internal implantable devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators, certain conditions, including auto-immune disease, skin diseases and skin infections and a known intolerance to the local anaesthetics used during treatment.
